Founded in 2001, Hawthorne Books publishes American literary fiction and narrative non-fiction with a commitment to offering international titles as well. We promote emerging writers, cultivate notable literary figures, and strive to present international voices to our readers.

Your Manuscript and Hawthorne Books.

Hawthorne Books publishes literary fiction and narrative nonfiction. No genre fiction or academic nonfiction. We request 15-50 pages, a table of contents, a synopsis, and a résumé including a list of prior publications. All submissions should be in .doc, .rtf, or .pdf format only and should be e-mailed to hawthornebooks@gmail.com. Please do not send manuscripts or queries to our mailing address—they will not be read. All manuscripts should be double-spaced and include page numbers, title, the author’s name and address. Please allow eight to twelve weeks for response. Due to postal regulations, we cannot return manuscripts over 13 ounces.
